Rodeo
One super fun adventure was finding the Big Timber MT Rodeo. What a hoot!
It was a first for me and the girls, but Mom was the expert. She explained a bunch of the events to us. That is Dana behind her. She was also staying at the ranch and became our new found friend from Texas. She entertained us with her kindness and humor, and clearly educated us that any rodeo without funnel cake was not legitimate! Haha. We managed to have a great time anyway. It was an absolutely gorgeous night with event after event of heart stopping spectacle. We had bucking broncos, bull riding, barrel racing, calf roping, vaulting, choreographed dances with flags on horseback, and lots more. But the funniest by far was Mutton Busting. They put toddlers on sheep, let them out of the shute and see how long they can hold on. I nearly peed in my pants I was laughing so hard. Something else! This is how you pass the time on a Montana summer night. The best!
I was struck by the patriotism, beauty and simple community living apparent in everything this community did. These people live a very different life, but it was all full of love and complete living. It made me want to be part of that community.
